Happy Mother's Day Mom! I love you!

Hey Mom

You're pretty awesome and I don't think I tell you enough. I spent a lot of time at Halmark, and all of their cards sucked. None of them had pictures of you holding a whiny brat and smiling, or listed out reasons you are so clearly loved. So instead of $3.99 on a card that could be thrown away in a week, I built you a website that proves how awesome you are compared to other mothers — both in and out of the Homo sapien range.

Just think about it. Who else has dedicated a whole web site to their mom for mother's day?

Please don't Google that, I haven't actually researched the issue

I have a few more reasons I think you're pretty cool

Why You're Awesome

I did some reading and I found out that, compared to other mothers, you're much better than the average mother.

  1. You taught me to read when I was 3 - so I beat the national average by at least 2 years
  2. You loved me enough to tell me "no" - which meant I didn't end up part of the Entitlement Generation
  3. You loved Dad a lot - which taught me that good spouses and good parents love each other
  4. You taught me to program when I was really stinking young. I thought it was so cool that I blogged about it
  5. You beat Duck Hunt. I don't know anyone, other than you, that's ever beaten Duck Hunt. Ever
  6. One Summer, you and I played Legend of Zelda. You filled up an entire notebook with all the maps and tricks. And then you sold it to Uncle John. That was awesome
  7. Lots of animals eat their young. Thank you for being better than Penguins, Pigs, Rabbits, Chimpanzees, and sharks - just to name a few. I think you and I both agree at times I should have been rolled up into a burrito
  8. You are single handedly responsible for my love of languages. You put me in Spanish lessons when I was 7, and you let me explore your Russian books when I was 12. That was cool
  9. You said on more than a few occasions that you loved me. That means a lot, and it still does

I'm not the best son in the world, but you're definitely the best mother. Thanks for loving me.
